The South Florida Condo, HOA & Co-op Expo Networking and Education for Community Associations—December 4, 2013

The South Florida Condo, HOA & Co-op Expo

The South Florida Cooperator’s second annual Condo, HOA & Co-op Expo is a great way to meet with more than 300 exhibitors, have your questions answered by experts, and earn board certification and continuing education credits by attending free seminars. Come join us at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for an information-packed day.

Meet and Greet

The South Florida Expo is more than just a place to meet condominium professionals and network with community association leaders, it represents a tremendous opportunity to learn more about running a successful community. It’s also the largest expo in the state entirely dedicated to connecting condo, HOA, and co-op managers, board members, and residents with the professionals and service providers their communities need on a regular basis. With more than 300 exhibitors, countless product demos, free advice booths, and full roster of educational seminars, some offering board certification and CEU credits, it’s literally a one-stop, custom-built marketplace for vendors, products and ideas. Register at www.fl-expo.com.

“The express purpose of the South Florida Expo is to help attendees make useful, productive connections, gain valuable information, and network with their peers,” says company president and publisher Yale Robbins. So if you’re a decision-maker for a condo, homeowners association, or co-op community—or even if you just call one home—and you have a pressing legal issue or an important project waiting in the wings, you owe it to yourself and your community to drop by the Expo and experience what it has to offer. It would take months to meet with the same number of vendors and professionals a typical Expo attendee will interact with in one afternoon on the show floor.

An Opportunity to Learn and Earn CEU Credit!

One of the biggest reasons for board members, managers, and owners to visit the show is the South Florida Expo’s full slate of free educational seminars, some of these seminars offering CEU credits for property managers and board members. Custom-built to help anyone involved—or even just interested—in the administration of a residential building or homeowners association, the 2013 seminar panels will provide in-depth discussion of the legal, administrative, management, and financial concerns pertinent to South Florida's HOA managers, board members, and residents.

A Full Day of Seminars

Attorney Eric Glazer’s Condo Craze Board Certification course, which has certified more than 5,200 Floridians, kicks off the day’s events at 8:00 a.m. Attendees receive a certificate upon completion. Additionally, Florida CAMs get two HR credits and two elective credits. Pre-registration is required. Next at 10:30 a.m., Associa will present “Watch Your Wallet – Protecting Funds, Preventing Fraud” to help boards safeguard community funds and prevent financial mismanagement. At 11:45 a.m. Becker & Poliakoff’s Ken Direktor will offer information and advice with his presentation, “Critical Documents – A Primer on Governing Documents.”

Collecting arrears is always a challenge, and in the next seminar at 1 p.m., SNAP Collections’ Mitch Drimmer will speak about “Accounts Receivable and Collections: Show Me the Money – Managing the Collections Process for HOA’s.” Attendees to this seminar will receive CEU credits for attending. At 2:15 p.m., Alan Chesler of Alan James Insurance will cover: “Valuing Your Property for Coverage and Cost” discussing claims and insurance risk. Earn CEU credits for attending this seminar. And finally, at 4:30 p.m. the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation will provide CEU credits to those qualified attendees when they host “Condominium Elections” and discuss the condo elections process step-by-step.

Free Advice Booths

In addition to the educational opportunities and networking, the South Florida Condo, HOA & Co-op Expo will feature free advice booths staffed by professionals from a broad array of industries, waiting to answer any and all HOA- and building-related questions face-to-face. If you have questions about your association’s finances, policies, or day-to-day management, you can stop by one of the booths for answers from leading legal, management, maintenance and financial professionals. How’s that for instant gratification?

It Doesn't Stop There

And if all that isn’t enough, the Expo will also feature dozens of raffles and giveaways throughout

the day—including the Grand Prize Reserve Fund giveaway, courtesy of The South Florida Cooperator and Yale Robbins Publications LLC. One attendee at the show will be drawn at random to win a $2,500 contribution to their building or association's reserve fund. The winner will be drawn after registration has closed, and a check for the winnings will be made payable to the winner’s association, care of their management company. Only board members qualify to enter the reserve fund drawing, and attendance at the Expo is required for eligibility. For complete details on how to enter the reserve fund drawing, visit the Expo website, www.fl-expo.com.
